What Are Trigger Point Injections and How Do They Help?

Trigger point injections are a minimally invasive neurological treatment for muscle pain caused by trigger points—tight bands of muscle that can cause localized or referred pain, often associated with neurological conditions. These injections use small doses of anesthetic or steroids to relax the muscle, reduce inflammation, and alleviate discomfort. We provide trigger point therapy in Knoxville to help patients manage chronic muscle pain and improve their quality of life through a neurological approach.

You may benefit from trigger point injections in Knoxville if you experience:

Myofascial pain syndrome, often linked to nerve-related issues

Chronic neck or shoulder tightness due to neurological tension

Back pain with muscle knots, potentially related to nerve irritation

Tension headaches caused by muscle tightness and neurological factors

A neurological pain relief injection in Knoxville can target specific areas of muscle tension, providing fast relief and addressing underlying neurological contributors to your pain. This treatment is particularly effective for pain that doesn’t respond to physical therapy or medication alone, offering a non-surgical option for lasting relief.

Can Be Repeated as Needed

For chronic conditions with neurological components, trigger point therapy in Knoxville can be repeated as needed to manage recurring muscle pain. Dr. Muhammad Masud and Celine Hamdan will work with you to develop a personalized neurological pain management plan.

What to Expect During Your Trigger Point Injection Procedure?

A trigger point injection in Knoxville at Neuro Heart Clinic is a simple, minimally invasive procedure that typically takes 10–15 minutes. Here’s what you can expect:

Preparation:

Our Neuro specialists will identify the trigger points causing your pain through a neurological exam, focusing on areas where nerve irritation may contribute to muscle tension. The injection site will be cleaned, and a local anesthetic may be applied.

Injection:

A small needle is used to inject a mixture of anesthetic or steroid directly into the trigger point, relaxing the muscle and reducing inflammation. You may feel a brief pinch during the injection.

Recovery:

Most patients can resume normal activities immediately. Dr. Muhammad Masud and Celine Hamdan will provide post-procedure instructions and monitor your progress to ensure effective neurological pain relief.

No special preparation is required for a neurological pain relief injection in Knoxville, but we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and informing our team of any allergies or medications you’re taking.

Celina Hamden has always been polite and professional for the visits I have had there. I am actually very grateful for her because she is the one who got things moving in the right direction for me to get closer to a diagnosis of a condition I have been dealing with for years. She made a referral to the Vanderbilt health system and got me in with the specialist I needed to see who can address the issue.

I had a follow-up for Dr Hussin to interpret my nerve conduction report and EMG. He was non-informative, and belligerent when I asked questions. It took about 7 weeks to get this test after their office admitted dropping the ball after I called 3 times to find out what was the delay . The only professional was the PA, Celina.

This medical group really does not deserve 1 star. I was seen by Celine Hamden, after being assessed by her nurse. The nurse was very kind and assured me I would really like Celine. Well I found Celine Hamden to be very rude and unprepared for my consult. I had all my records sent and she had not yet read the results of the MRI OR EEG. I had to open my medical portal on my phone and she looked at it all of 30 seconds. She then tossed a piece of paper at me and made a diagnosis. Never asked any questions or asked me my concerns or questions. I found it to be unprofessional and unpleasant. She ordered blood work. I never got a call with results. I had to call back after a couple of weeks and was just told. It was ok. Also, calling the office is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. I had overpaid and it took 3 weeks and 7 phone calls to get it refunded. Plus my EOB showed they charged for a 30 min consult. I was in the exam room approximately 10 min. A definite sign that they are doctoring for the wrong reason. I WOULD NOT REFER CELINE HAMDEN OR THIS GROUP TO MY WORST ENEMY

I went in for a consultation a couple of months ago with Celine Hamden PA.She was very rude and very dismissive. She wouldn't even let my partner talk or have any input and wouldn't let me have much say , She didn't take anything I said seriously. In my opinion,She seemed to be a little bit phobic. It took 4 weeks to get my MRI results. I was basically told I was getting old and to handle things myself. I don't recommend her or this group to anyone. She is very unprofessional.

My partner and I went in for issues that he was having. Seline was very dismissive and didn't even want me to talk. He had an MRI and it took him calling and 4 weeks later to get any kind of results and they were very dismissive in his opinion. If I were you, I would find another neurologist. In my opinion. You are there to treat patients and not act as though you are higher than thou! Some of us have titles and don't act that bad in my opinion. BTW when Seline and the med student came in the med student was laughing... Talk about being unprofessional inmo
