Dr. Yasir Akhtar,

Dr Akhtar grew up in rural upstate NY. He completed medical school in 2002 from The Aga Khan University Medical College in Pakistan. He completed residency in internal medicine from Indiana University where he served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine. He completed fellowship training in Vascular Biology/Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology in 2014 from the University of Virginia. He moved to Knoxville in 2014 and has been practicing cardiology in east TN since.
He specializes in transcatheter aortic valve replacement, Left Atrial Appendage Closure, Peripheral vascular interventions and Complex coronary artery disease therapies. He is Board Certified in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology by the ABIM and the NBPAS.

Amy Greene,

Amy grew up in the coal mining town of St. Charles in Southwest Virginia. She is a proud coal-miner’s daughter and is appreciative of her Applachian heritage. Amy attributes her desire to help others stemming from observing her parents help others on a regular basis while growing up.
She moved to Knoxville in 1993. She completed nursing school at Carson Newman College in 1999 becoming a nurse like her mother. She later completed her Master’s degree in 2013 at Frontier Nursing University located in Hyden, Ky. Amy worked at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee while in nursing school. After graduation she began her on the job training on the cardiac unit at Baptist Hospital. As she began her nursing career she was taught by some of the best cardiologists and clinician in the field at Baptist Hospital. She later worked in the inpatient/outpatient cath recovery area further refining her cardiac knowledge at Baptist hospital and later at St. Mary’s hospital. She worked in primary care as a new nurse practitioner for 6 years before returning to the hospital working as a hospitalist.
Amy is very happily married and has three grown children. When not working Amy can be found biking, hiking, and kayaking when weather allows. She also enjoys reading, singing, and treasures time with her husband, family, church family, and other friends.
Neurology providers

Dr. Muhammad Masud,

Dr. Muhammad Masud completed his medical education at King Edward Medical University in Pakistan. He then pursued his Neurology residency at the University at Buffalo, NY, where he developed a strong foundation in neurological care. In 2015, he moved to Knoxville, TN, where he joined UT Medical Center as an Assistant Professor in Medicine, contributing to medical education and patient care.
Dr. Masud specializes in the management of stroke, headaches, and epilepsy, offering advanced treatment options to improve patient outcomes. He is Board Certified in Neurology and remains dedicated to providing high-quality neurological care through innovation, research, and compassionate patient management.

Celina Hamdan,

Celina Hamdan is a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant specializing in neurology with nearly four years of experience in outpatient care. Born in Abu Dhabi and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Celina is fluent in both English and Arabic, which enhances her ability to connect with a diverse patient population.
She earned her Master of Health Science from South College, where she developed a strong foundation in medical sciences and patient care. Her professional journey in neurology has been marked by a commitment to improving patient outcomes through personalized and evidence-based care.
Celina is passionate about empowering her patients with knowledge and support to manage their neurological conditions effectively. Outside of her professional life, Celina is an avid fitness enthusiast who enjoys going to the gym and participating in outdoor activities. Her love for the outdoors and active lifestyle reflects her holistic approach to health and well-being, both personally and professionally.

Kayla Brummette LPN

Kayla grew up in Knoxville TN. She began working in a Cardiology office at 19 years old where she found her passion for Cardiology and helping patients. She started as a phone operator in the office and eventually became a certified medical assistant. She was selected to be part of Valve Team as a Heart Valve Coordinator and decided to further her education. She graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse Program at South College in 2021. She has plans to continue to further her education in the future. Her hobbies include reading and spending time with her family.

Tori Brummette

Tori was born and raised here in Knoxville, TN. She initially graduated with an Associate’s degree in Business with a Culinary Arts major, but has since found herself in the medical field. She has a background working in Pharmacy and recently found her love for Cardiology. She prides herself on kindness and caring for others. When not working, Tori is spending time with her daughter, enjoying the outdoors, baking and traveling
